what is documentary photography?

(its not as scary as it sounds, i promise)

Documentary photography is the art of capturing life exactly as it happens, without direction or posing.

Like a visual storyteller, a documentary photographer observes and records the genuine moments that make up your daily experience. Rather than creating staged images, we photograph real life in all its beautiful imperfection - from morning routines to bedtime rituals, and all the meaningful moments in between. This approach preserves not just how your family looks, but how you truly live, love, and grow together.

Why BE?

(B) for Benji

(E) for Eevee

Naming your business is hard. You want to make sure the name is simple yet catchy AND holds a lot of value. I'm not going to lie to you, BE photo co was on the list for awhile... but at the bottom. At one point, I realized I was overthinking it.

Benji and Eevee - my two dogs, my heart, the honest to god main thing that not only requires me to get out of bed in the mornings but also brings me immense amounts of joy to do so. One day, I know I'll have to miss them and so every day, every walk we go on, I try remembering every detail about them. However, as most people know about me, my memory.. fails me often. So I take photos of them CONSTANTLY (despite their annoyance) to preserve those memories and the joy their head tilts, silly sleeping poses, and so much bring me.

To name something I am so passionate about after the beings that I love more than anything in the world? It only makes sense, especially knowing that one day these precious moments will become cherished memories - and after all, what else is there?
